Lionel Messi continued his perfect start to life in the United States by scoring twice to help Inter Miami beat Orlando City in the round of 32 of the Leagues Cup.

Messi needed only seven minutes to open his account on the night, with his newly-found telepathy and chemistry with Robert Taylor doing the trick again.

The Argentine chested down the ball from a lofted Taylor cross before hammering it past a flat-footed Pedro Gallese in the Orlando goal.

Cesar Araujo restored parity 10 minutes later before a confrontation broke out between Messi and him. The former picked up a yellow card - his first since he moved to the United States.

Josef Martinez won and converted a penalty in the second half before he laid out another pass for Messi to round off the victory and claim a brace on the night.

Rick Ross attends Messi's game

Messi's games in Miami have been graced by celebrities like LeBron James, Serena Williams, Kim Kardashian, and the power couple of David and Victoria Beckham, who are also the co-owners of the club.

On August 2, it was the turn of popular hip-hop artist, Rick Ross, to watch the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner in action. He admitted it was his first time attending a football game.

"Lionel Messi has changed the entire energy of the state. I am here to have fun; to support the city and to support David Beckham and to let Messi know that he is welcome in Miami. This is different. Everyone in Miami, I suggest you come out and catch one of these games, it's a movement," the 'Aston Martin' hitmaker said in an interview for Major League Soccer.

Jordi Alba, Messi and Sergio Busquets' former teammate at Barcelona, was introduced in the 64th minute by Inter Miami's coach, Tata Martino, for his competitive debut.

The Floridian MLS side will now face FC Dallas in the round of 16.

Lionel Messi 'mobbed' by fans

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on fans mobbing Messi in Miami as he continues to take the MLS by storm.

The Argentine star was recently surrounded by supporters after leaving a store on the city's Lincoln Road.

One fan recorded the incredible scene, with Messi needing a security team to exit a local pedestrian mall.
